My dream, ever since I can remember, has always been to become a “someone”, a person that others can rely on and look up to for help. In my case, being a “someone” was being a doctor. I’ve always wanted to become a doctor who treats people with exceptional humanitarian services regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation. Although I was accepted into Tulane and even Loyola, I chose Xavier with the person that is the cornerstone of my dreams in mind: my mom. I wanted to become a part of Xavier because it provided a vivid and well grounded road for those interested in the medical field while not having to bother my parents for tuition and funds since Xavier offered me a scholarship to attend. Furthermore, not only did Xavier offer classes that would prepare me for Medical School but also clubs, summer programs, and research opportunities that would benefit me in many ways.

Truthfully, I’m a little frightened of college, I expect really hard classes and long work that would drain all my time away from friends and family. However, I know that isn’t true and that I’ll have plenty of time for them, but I’m still afraid that I might struggle at first. Although I’m afraid right now, I definitely know that attending this university is my first step towards all of my dreams. I believe Xavier and its classes will not only develop my mind further and prepare it for future challenges of being a doctor, but also challenges presented in everyday life. The ideas presented in my classes will not only give me knowledge but also determination of becoming a doctor. It will shape my personality so that I may become a more rounded person who can treat patients as friends and as human beings rather than as clients and money bags. Through the years at Xavier, I expect that the knowledge I gain will not only allow me to excel in academics but also in my community and in my friendship with friends that I know and have yet to meet. Moreover, I know that I will make many mistakes, but I know that I’ll learn from my mistakes and grow from them. I hope that years from now, I can look back and be proud of all the things that I’ve done, and regret nothing.
